Venus (Shukra), the planet governing the luxuries of life, entered its own sign Taurus and became a Swagrahi in this earthly sign today, 20th April 2010. At the same time Mercury has become retrograde in its transit on the fiery sign of Aries two days ago. This change in the sign of Venus has broken the Yuti of Sun-Mercury-Venus which was there in Aries, leaving only Sun and Mercury in this conjunction now.

Taurus is not the Mooltrikon sign of Venus but it is its own sign. Being a fixed sign, Venus shows some increased materialistic tendencies here as compared to its Mooltrikon sign Libra (Tula). In Libra, Venus loves luxuries but has a deep desire to achieve higher goals in life, the spiritual pursuit still goes on. But, in Taurus, it is purely down to earth grabber of material wealth and day to day luxuries. And, if corrupted by the aspect of Mars, such a Venus can make the native very ambitious and greedy.

Venus will stay alone in Taurus throughout its transit in it this year. It enters Gemini (Mithun) on 15th May 2010, the day Sun enters Taurus. Venus will not even receive any aspect from any other planet except a one day long company of Moon on 14th May 2010. This lonely transit will give Venus time to show its true and pure effects on every aspect of life.

One good thing I noticed was the change in temperature to more tolerable levels in Delhi and surrounding areas as soon as Venus entered Taurus this morning. We can hope that such bearable heat wave continues with intermittent showers of rain till 15th May 2010. The ongoing crisis of airlines in Europe due to the volcanic ash spreading in the sky will also have some solution in the coming few days. But, as Taurus is an earth sign, Venus will give necessary boost more to the travels through roadways and railways than to the travels through airways and ships.
