  Astrologer Ashutosh: Ms Archana! A person should wear the Jyotish gemstones for the planets which are beneficial and well placed in their charts. And, the gemstones for planets which are in negative positions must be avoided.

You were born under Libra ascendant (Tula) and Gemini (Mithun) moon sign. In your horoscope, Venus, Mercury and Saturn are the three basic beneficial planets. Out of them only Venus and Mercury are placed well and are in a very strong yoga in the first house of your horoscope.

A gemstone for Venus will give you good health and general prosperity. It will also help you in dealing with the existing problems related to home, property, family and personal relations too. The gem for Venus is worn on the ring finger and on Friday morning. For Venus, you can wear one of the following gemstones:

1. A solitaire diamond (1 carat or more) in a silver or platinum ring. This diamond should not be of a usual yellow, brown or black variet which are sold in markets. It should be either white (colourless) or a blue-tinted diamond.

2. A White Sapphire of a good quality. This is a colourless Sapphire. It is worn on a silver ring. You can also wear a Sapphire which has a very light shade of blue in it but is not a Blue Sapphire. This Sapphire must be more than 5 carats in weight and a single stone only.

3. A good quality Opal. You can wear a Fire-Opal too. For a Fire-Opal a 5 carat or more of Opal will do. But, for a normal opal a 8 carat or more will be required.
