Jyotish is a form of Astrology which is widely practiced in India. It is popularly, though mistakenly, know as Vedic Astrology.

The term 'Jyotish' comprises of two words:

1. Jyoti, which means light.

2. Eesh, which means God, or the Supreme Cosmic force.

meaning 'the light of God' or 'the God of light'.

It is the light which shows us the correct direction in the darkness of ignorance.

Jyotish uses the Nirayan form of calculations while calculating a horoscope. On the basis of the horoscope the predictions about the native's future are then done.
