Today, on 18th May 2025, the shadowy planet Rahu is entering the sign of Aquarius or Kumbh, as it is called in Jyotish. Ketu, the other end and the tail of Rahu, is entering Leo, also called Simha in Jyotish. Rahu is exiting Meen Rashi and Ketu is leaving Kanya rashi after a period of around eighteen and half months. Rahu-Ketu will transit in this Aquarius-Leo axis till 5th December 2026. These two shadow planets are always in retrograde motion. They enter a sign through its last degree, the 30th degree, and leave through the first degree.

Rahu-Ketu complete a full circle of the twelve Rashis in around eighteen and half years. Rahu is also called Moon's North Node and Dragon’s head. Ketu is known as Moon's South Node and Dragon's tail. Rahu and Ketu are not actual physical planets. They are called Chhaya Grahas or shadow planets. During this transit of Rahu-Ketu in Kumbh-Simha, Shani will be in Meen rashi constantly, Jupiter will be in Mithun, Cancer and Leo, while the other planets with smaller orbits will keep on changing signs more frequently.

The previous transit of Rahu-Ketu in Aquarius-Leo axis was from 12th October 2006 to 30th April 2008. The next transit of Rahu-Ketu in this Kumbh-Simha axis, after this 2025-26 transit, will be from 24th December 2043 to 12th July 2045. Previous few transits of Rahu in Kumbh and Ketu in Simha were as follows -

- 12th October 2006 to 30th April 2008.

- 6th March 1988 to 23rd September 1989.

- 31st July 1969 17th February 1971.

- 24th December 1950 to 13th July 1952.

- 19th May 1932 to 6th December 1933.

- 12th October 1912 to 2nd May 1915.

- 7th March 1895 to 23rd September 1896.

From 7th June 2025 to 28th July 2025, Mars will be with Ketu in Simha Rashi. Mangal and Shani will be in 6th-8th placement with each other. This period is going to be highly volatile and almost explosive in terms of social unrest, revolts, uprising, terrorist activities and riots. For common people too, this time will bring extreme lack of patience, heightened aggression, arguments, quarrels and controversies. So, all are advised to be more calm and patient in June and July 2025. In these two months people of Vrishabh, Simha, Vrishchik and Makar rashi and lagna are advised to be more cautious about their health.

A similar combination of Mars-Ketu in Simha, but with Brihaspati added to it, will be formed from 12th November 2026 to 5th December 2026. In that period the volatility of Mars will increase manifolds and there are high chances of wars or state sponsored brutal and violent conflicts.

For India and the world this transit of Rahu in Kumbh and Ketu in Simha will bring political instability, economic problems, man-made and natural calamities, and, public unrest. In the previous transit of Rahu-Ketu in Aquarius-Leo in 2006-08 the Great Recession or the 2008 Recession started. Saturn in Pisces and Jupiter in Gemini are also indicating big economic troubles ahead.

For the twelve ascendants and moon-signs the effect of this transit of Rahu-Ketu in Kumbh-Simha will be as follows -

1. Mesh - Aries: High expenses; increase in the number of friends and acquaintances; need for more income and savings; rise in income; unexpected monetary gains; friends will need more help; changes in the ongoing educational courses; children's health will require more attention.

2. Vrishabh - Taurus: Aggravation in parents' health problems; troubles, stress and frustrations related to job and business; expansion of business; acquisition of new residential property; frequent travels; health problems related to heart, lungs and brain.

3. Mithun - Gemini: Frequent domestic and international travels; monetary gains from long distance journeys; expansion of business overseas; increased confidence; health problems for parents; rise in interest in spiritual and religious subjects; more involvement in problems of friends living in other cities or countries.

4. Karka - Cancer: Increase in wealth, savings and investments; sorting out of several family matters and problems; more straightforward and honest expression of opinions; health problems related to skin, hair, eyes and teeth; more interest in subjects and activities related to occult; high chances of accidents and injuries.

5. Simha - Leo: Problems in marriage, love relationships, close friendships and business partnerships; extra-marital affairs; worries about the health, behaviour and welfare of the spouse; high chances of separation or divorce; drastic financial ups and downs; increase in general stress, anxieties and frustrations in all areas of life.

6. Kanya - Virgo: High competition, rivalries and controversies created by enemies; more involvement in political activities; unexpected and mysterious health problems; high expenses; good progress in job and business; improvement in relations with spouse, close friends, and, business partners.

12. Meen - Pisces: Increase in expenses; high chances of surgery related to eyes, ears and head; health problems related to skin, urinary system and genitals; legal hassles; unexpected controversies and attacks on social image by, competitors, rivals and enemies.
