Padmarag |
Padmarag is the Sanskrit name for an orange, orange-pink or pink variety of Sapphire. This is a very rare variety of Sapphire and is the second rarest after the green Sapphires which are called the Oriental Emeralds. Padmarag in Sanskrit means 'one having the colour of a lotus'. The usual yellow or pale sapphires are called 'Pushparag', which means 'having the colour of a flower'. Pushparag has become the now popular term 'Pukhraj' which is the most common word used for Sapphires in India. |
