Which Jyotish Gemstones should I wear for Jupiter or Guru? Print

Yellow Sapphires from Jyotish Biz Jupiter, the most benevolent of all Jyotish planets, is considered, though incorrectly, a panacea to all cures, in popular vedic astrology. So, it is natural that the gemstones which are used as remedial stones for Jupiter should also receive similar high attention. Following gemstones can be used as remedial Jyotish gems for Brihaspati. The preference should be given to these gems on basis of the order in which they have been mentioned here.

1. Yellow Sapphire:

Sapphires are a form of corundum variety of stones. They are know for their hardness, clarity and lustre. They are ranked only second to diamonds in their popularity, price and demand. For use as a Jyotish remedy for Jupiter, the yellow or pale sapphires are used.

A sapphire is also called a Pukhraj in Hindi. This term has been derived from ' Pushparag' in Sanskrit which means 'one having the colour of a flower'. Yellow Sapphire is the primary and mainly recommended gem for Jupiter. There are other varieties of sapphires which are worn for Jupiter like the golden sapphire and the orangish-pink sapphire, the Padmarag. But, these other varieties are very rare and are much more expensive than the yellow sapphires.

2. Yellow Topaz: Contrary to what people normally believe, a Topaz is not a Pukhraj. Topaz is a semi-precious gemstone and comes in various colours. The yellow variety of topaz is used as a Jyotish gemstone. It is commonly called a 'Sunela' in India. A topaz is less dense and has less hardness than a Sapphire.

A yellow topaz is a substitute gemstone for a yellow sapphire and is used when one is not able to afford the latter. Also, it must be taken in around double the weight in carats which is normally recommended for yellow sapphire as a Jyotish gem.

3. Yellow Hessonite: Hessonite comes in colours ranging from Black, Brown, Coca Cola, Yellow to Golden. All of these varieties are used as Jyotish gems for Rahu but the last two can be used for Jupiter too due to their naturally intense Yellow and Golden colours.

Hessonite too is a semi-precious gem like a Topaz and is very affordable too. Also, it must be taken in double the usually recommended weight in carats. Hessonite is found in Sri Lanka and India. Both these countries produce many diverse qualities of Hessonite.

4. Yellow Opal: Opal comes in many colours. The most common colours are White, Pale and the one with Blueish shades. The Yellow variety of Opal is rare and it can be used as a gemstone for Jupiter. But, one must ensure that such an Opal is having good translucency and natural yellow colour.

Opal is a semi-precious stone but is more expensive when one is seeking the yellow colour in it.

All Jyotish remedial gemstones for Jupiter or Guru must be worn on a Gold ring. The finger on which a gem for Jupiter is worn is the index finger of either hand.
