Sun - Saturn exact Opposition (Samsaptak) - 22nd March 2010

On 22nd March 2010, Sun and Saturn will come in exact mutual opposition. These two mutually conflicting planets had come in a Samsaptak yoga (opposition) on 14th March 2010 when Surya had entered Pisces (Meen). As Saturn is in transit in Virgo (Kanya) since 9th September 2009, these two had formed a Samsaptak Yoga as a result.

They will stay in this position of mutual opposition till 14th April 2010 when Sun leaves Pisces and enters Aries, its sign of exaltation. Venus (Shukra) is also in transit in Pisces since 2nd March 2010 and Mercury had joined Venus and Sun in Pisces on 14th March 2010. So, it is actually a Yoga involving four planets - Sun, Saturn, Mercury and Venus.

The Sun-Saturn Samsaptak can be quite damaging for many people as it can give losses of money, health and vital energy. The presence of Venus has subdued the negative effects of this opposition but Venus in turn has lost some positive powers. This is why it has been unable to give the best of its results which it gives in its Uccha Rashi (sign of exaltation) Meen (Pisces).

These planetary placements have some very diverse effects on the economy and industry. On one hand the Automobile sector gains by giving discounts and freebies. On the other hand the government regulations and taxes do not allow it to achieve the desired sales targets.

Similarly, the travel and hospitality industry too gets quite mixed results. Despite discounts and attractive gifts on offer, the trade is not picking up as per the plans. The profits increase but stay short of the desired mark.

The only sector which gains from this combination is social welfare and charitable organizations, mainly those who cater to the fair sex and the children.

The Moon sign and ascendants who will get the most benefits from this opposition and this yoga of four planets are Taurus, Leo, Virgo, Scorpio, Capricorn, Sagittarius and Aquarius. For Aries, Libra and Pisces, this combination can give some health problems with losses related to money and family happiness.
