Mars or Mangal, the planet of energy, force and aggression, goes retrograde on 20th December 2009 in its weakest sign, the sign of its debilitation, Cancer.

It will remain retrograde for about three months. Mars becomes directional in Cancer on 10th March 2010.

Cancer is the sign of debilitation of Mars. A debilitation means that the planet loses most of the positive traits with which it is related to. Mars governs aggression, courage, force, energy, valour, boldness and enthusiasm. When Mars gets debilitated a general lack of all these traits is observed.

Mars entered Cancer on 5th October 2009. It will leave Cancer for Leo on 26th May 2010.
